Political fire fast spreading

The fire of political war-mongering is fast engulfing the entire nation. Politicians and their followers are caught up in the deadly game.

No one cares to hide the bad habits and politics is once again exposing our ugly faces. Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria, Ferdinand Waititu of Kabete, Kimani Ngunjiri from Bahati in Nakuru County are flying high the intolerance from JUBILEE.

From the CORD wing are legislators Johnstone Muthama, legislators Junet Mohammed, Timothy Bosire, Aisha Jumwa and former Nairobi City Council supremo George Aladwa.

Both camps are riding high on the fanatical following from their strongholds in Gatundu, Nakuru, Kibera and Migori.

One of the legislators under hate-speech investigation is alleged to have made the statements at a prayer meeting! Loose cannons that are never scared to defile the church in the name of politics.

We are setting the perfect stage to burn our country in the name of politics. No one is responsible. In the name of two political sides solely guided on tribal bigotry and no ideologies, peace is fast turning out to be slippery treasure.

Maybe we never learn, not even from the fire that burnt our fingers in 2007-08! That is how deep cheap politics continue to ruin this great nation.

The nation is busy walking itself into fire, and this time, it might not be as short-lived as the 2007-08 bloodbath. Led by the careless politicians, we like daring fate and testing the gods!

Politicians show off their lack of political manners and Kenyans jubilate and cheer them on.

Do we stop to think about our economy, increasing the population of internally displaced Kenyans, the possibility of a full-blown ethnic cleansing and undoing the socio-economic gains made over time?

The national police service should act on these loose tongues, our courts must expedite justice in hand with the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions while the National Cohesion and Integration Commission should show us value for our money!

Judging from the past reactions to these men and women, the above institutions have never acted enough.

They have never set a precedent by way of punitive action. That is why the politicians have a field day on the stage of hate-speech and war-mongering.

The nation too has abdicated its responsibility in sieving the cadre of national leaders. Every five years, men and women of questionable character are elected.

The electorate and politicians have joined hands to defile the noble seat of leadership in Kenya!

We never learnt from the blood bath about nine years ago. The victims too still struggling under tents, displaced on their own land have never touched our conscience too.

We are a nation that is simply eager to taste fire once more due to political competition. But why do choose to destroy our nation?

Few sober politicians, free from ethnic bile that is oozing all over can answer that question and so can millions of Kenyans who are regarded to carry light political influence due to their numbers.

Time is fast running out. The drum of ethnic intolerance and violence are beating so loud.

The whole world is watching as the region’s economic giant fast seeks its destruction on account of political competition.

All Kenyans can act now and avoid finger-pointing when fire visits us next year. We can all save our country.
